Glockenspiel

Glockenspiel, yes glockenspiel. I just love saying glockenspiel. A Glockenspiel a percussion instrument, composed of a set of tuned keys arranged in the fashion of the keyboard of a piano. In this way, it is similar to the xylophone; however, the xylophone's bars are made of wood, while the glockenspiel's are metal, thus making it a metallophone. The glockenspiel, moreover, is usually smaller and higher in pitch.

A glockenspiel is also an instrument used in Respighi's "Roman Festivals", which is one of the pieces I got to hear performed at the Stockton Symphony this weekend. I went to the symphony on Saturday night with my cousin's wife Melissa. It was so much fun! It brought back a lot of memories of Dordt. Memories like sitting in the balcony doing homework, just enjoying the atmosphere. I kept looking at the instrumentalists and expecting to see people I knew at Dordt. Julia and her flute, Neil at the timpani "smelling the drums" as Sarah always called it. So fun! Photos are not allowed in the performance hall and so I took a photo of my program bill and ticket stub.

Going to the symphony was not the only exciting thing that I have done recently. A post or two ago I mentioned that I was going to be moving again soon. Well, I have. I moved in with my sister Ashley a week ago this past Friday. Things are starting to get settled. It is not the easiest moving from your own place to one that you are going to share. But, my sister and are are slowly beginning to understand each other. I am the type of person that wants to unpack and get everything decorated. She is the type that wants the necessities, but doesn't necessarily need to have things aesthetically pleasing right away. Even though we are not settled to the extent that I would wish, I still would like to share some photos of our new place!

Welcome to our home!!!!

This is our kitchen. It is a bit on the small side, but it works great for us!

This is just on example of the abundance of storage that areas of this house have. This is just in the small hallway. Off to the right, out of view is another stack of drawers with cupboards above. When we came in to look around after Ashley had first got the keys; Braden (my brother) climbed into one of these, and we were able to shut the doors! Huge space!!!!

This is a look at my room looking towards the street. Such great natural light!!!!

Main room! SO much space!!

Main room from the hallway.

This is a close-up of our main lighting. Ashley is planning on changing these someday.

The big bathroom. This is a big change from the bathroom at the house I just moved out of!

This is a close-up of the neat glass that is in different parts of the house.

The laundry room. I no longer freeze my butt of standing in a garage doing laundry or feel like someone outside knows I am in there!

Our new flower and sugar containers.

All in all, it has been great being in the new place! There are a few things to work out, but it is great having to share responsibilities with someone.

One last thing that I would like to share with you are a few photos of flowers that are in bloom around my parent's house. I just love flowers, but, I think I will leave the growing of them to my parents. Isn't God amazing? He is The greatest artist!!!! Just look at the color in these flowers! There was no enhancement to these photos. This is the true color!

One other thing that amazes me is how quickly God can change the weather on us. The photos of the flowers I took on Sunday. The weather was in the eighties and our family had lunch outside. By Monday afternoon the clouds were rolling in and late Monday night into Tuesday we had rain! In fact I got my wish of a Thunderstorm granted! Now, some would say, "you are happy it rained?" Well, yes, I am. Not only do we need the water after quite a few years of little rain, but Ijust plan love that weather! And, if I get thunderstorms along with it, even better!!!!!!

Well, that is all for now! hope you enjoyed this song from the music of my life! Maybe with Ashley and I planing on hitting the town Saturday morning for the City Wide Garage sales, my next post may be called Garage Sale Gaudioso.
